About Abby…

I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2012 with a major in Mass Communication and minors in Political Science, Political Communication, and Journalism. Following graduation, I accepted a position as the PR Coordinator at ATI Physical Therapy. To learn about my journey to avoid unemployment, check out my Prezi:

As an aspiring public relations and legislative affairs student, I worked to gain as much experience as possible in the field. I served as a PR/policy intern at the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, American Cancer Society, Autism Delaware, and Inside Out Creative. From January through June 2012, I worked as a 2012 Delaware Legislative Fellow, serving in the House Majority. In addition, I served as an undergraduate research assistant for the Center for Political Communication, studying multiple facets of political communication in the new media age. On campus, I also served as the president of my PRSSA Chapter and presented at the 2011 PRSSA National Conference.

As a true Gen-Y’er with a love for social media, I spend a lot of time studying and reading about new media and social media strategy.  When I’m not tweeting about social media, I’m usually reading my favorite books and blogs about social media, including Socialnomics, Engage, and Social Media Examiner.

I’ve become increasingly interested in internal and employee communication, especially on a team building and leadership level. I’m using my passion for internal leadership by serving as our Life Groups Director at The Journey, as well as maintaining our online leadership portal, The Path.
